This month we’ll explore peppers – sweet and spicy. Enjoyed in the Americas for thousands of years, their introduction to the Eastern Hemisphere revolutionized cuisines. What makes some of them so spicy? What are the best ways to handle and prepare peppers? We’ll explore all of this in this month’s presentation.

We’ll also continue with our exploration of locally available herbs, this month looking at pipicha, a Mexican herb increasingly found in Greenmarkets around the city.

The focus on the month’s featured vegetables includes historical information, nutritional information, growing these veggies in the NY area, trivia, and fun facts. Included will be information about GrowNYC, our Greenmarket farmers markets, and what is currently in season. .

Bring your favorite recipes, tips, and stories and join us for Let's Talk Vegetables.

One of the concerns many people have when trying to eat healthy is following advice about fats in foods. There are many different types of fats in foods and, not only are they not all bad, healthy fats are necessary for your body to function properly. In this workshop you will learn the differences between fats you should limit, and fats that are good for you.

After the lecture, there will be plenty of time to ask questions about eating and cooking plant-based meals, share your successes and challenges and get support for yourself and others on this journey of eating healthier.
