RSS Plant-Based Eating Support Community: Eat more plants, lower your inflammation (Online & In-Person)

Plants in our diets provide health benefits that aren’t found in animal foods. A major benefit is that most of the plants we love (such as colorful fruits and vegetables) are anti-inflammatory. Join Nutritionist Maudene Nelson as we talk about why this is important and which plants are excellent for their anti-inflammatory functions

The Plant-Based Kickstart Journey Continues! Switching over to a more plant-based diet isn’t always easy but you don’t have to go it alone. Here we will create a community where you will get information on plant-based topics led by our nutrition and health team with time afterward for conversation and mutual support.

This group is open to everyone, whether you are already on this journey or just getting started. It is where you go to get and give encouragement and support as well as share tips, recipes, and more with others who are also at various stages of learning.

GrowNYC presents: Let's Talk Vegetables: Carrots & Ramps (online & in-person)

Friday, April 29, 2022
1:00 pm2:00 pm

To register: https://rssny.org/class-forms/kickstarter.html

This event is part of the Plant-Based Kickstart Program.

Carrots are enjoyed around the world for their versatility. Available year-round, they are native to Europe and Asia – and they come in more colors than just orange!

Ramps are an allium (related to onions and garlic) native to eastern North America. A sharp and spicy herb-like vegetable, their arrival signals that spring is here – and they are only available for a few weeks!

Join Let's Talk Vegetables (LTV) for a look at these delicious vegetables. Each LTV presentation starts with some information about GrowNYC, our Greenmarket farmers markets, and what is currently in season. We will then focus on this month’s featured vegetables including historical information, nutritional information, growing these veggies in the NY area, and trivia.

Bring your favorite recipes, tips, and stories and join us for Let's Talk Vegetables.
