Let's Talk Vegetables: Delicata & Kabocha squash and Quince (Online & In-Person)
To register: https://rssny.org/class-forms/kickstarter.html
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we’ll look at two squashes that are wonderful for holiday feasts – delicata and kabocha. Both are delicious, and nutritious, and can be prepared sweet or savory. Best of all, they don’t need to be peeled! We’ll discuss how to select and store both.
As a first for Let’s Talk Vegetables, we’ll discuss a fruit too. Quinces are unusual, odd-looking, and relatively unknown fruit with a wonderful fragrance that is delicious when cooked.
As always, Let's Talk Vegetables (LTV) will start with some information about GrowNYC, our Greenmarket farmers markets, and what is currently in season. We will then focus on this month’s featured vegetables including nutritional information, trivia, and recipes.

Changing over to a healthier way of eating, like changing any habit, is not always easy. Sometimes we all fall back into old eating habits and a way to detox can help you to get back on track. A plant-based diet is a great way to detox the body without harmful effects. Join Nutritionist Deborah Johnson as she discusses the stages of the detoxification process, including benefits and ways in which the body detoxifies itself. Eating like this, you are setting up the body for success. And what better way to end the year.
After the lecture, there will be plenty of time to ask questions about eating and cooking plant-based meals, share your successes and challenges and get support for yourself and others on this journey of eating healthier.
