Vasily Kandinsky is one of the very first official abstract artists in Western Art History, carefully creating his very spiritual paintings, but also backing his revolutionary practice through his teachings and writing. Hilla Rebay and Solomon Guggenheim as well as Katherine Dreier and Galka Scheyer were amongst his most influential supporters here in the US And the Guggenheim Museum has one of the largest collections fo his works, from his early Blue Rider landscapes and organic abstractions, his geometric works from the Bauhaus period, to his late style of the Paris years. A closer look at his masterpieces and the background of his biography and historic circumstances will bring his work alive to us!
