Workshop Series: Discover the Community Gardens of the NW Bronx...without the sweat!

Learn about the different gardens right in your neighborhood and what makes each one unique:

Guerrilla gardening is the act of gardening – raising food, plants, or flowers – on land that the gardeners do not have the legal rights to cultivate, such as abandoned sites, areas that are not being cared for, or private property. There have been guerrilla gardeners in this country since the colonial period until the present day.

Rita Freed is a long-time resident of Riverdale. She is one of the original members of the Schervier Community Garden where she grows flowers from seed, for the garden she has been tending on Kappock St. that she started for environmental and political purposes. Join her for this workshop to learn more about this important local garden and how local residents can get involved.
