Genealogy Basics

Wednesday, January 6, 2021

These days, it can be worthwhile to create an online space to connect with ideas of family history for enjoyment of learning and a sense of personal continuity.

Genealogy Basics gives beginner or intermediate family history researchers the tools and approaches to work online and get a better and more satisfying experience knowing what free resources are out there, and how a librarian can help them if they have questions as they go. We share anecdotes and tips from our own experiences and ask participants to share and encourage each other and ask preliminary questions. We can cover any or all sides of the Jewish Diaspora, East or West (Mizrahi and/or Ashkenazi, etc.)

The Center for Jewish History in New York City illuminates history, culture, and heritage. The Center provides a collaborative home for five partner organizations: American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.

There will also be an advanced genealogy course later in January.
