Using artworks from the Hebrew Home’s permament collection that span the twentieth century,
this talk focuses on the way artists have used geometry in their work across a variety of styles,
including early geometric abstraction, Op Art, Hard-edge painting, and others. The nineteen
artists hailing from nine different countries present examples of artists who engage geometric
abstraction in their work, whether in the tradition of influential Bauhaus teacher Josef Albers,
connecting elements of their cultural background as with Lebanese-born Saliba Douiahy, or
interpreting the linguistic geometry of Hebrew as in the work of Robert Kirschbaum.
