Hilma af Klint

A recent exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum reintroduced this Swedish artist’s oeuvre to the American public and fascinated all with its magical abstract works, predating the revolutionary works of Kandinsky, Delaunay Malevich etc by several years, but not having been recognized by art historians so far. As a dedicated theosophist, a majority of af Klint’s paintings were meant for a spiritual temple and relate to spiritual teachings of the time. She was connected to Rudolf Steiner, exhibited along with Kandinsky, but in her will requested for her work not to be shown for 20 years, well aware that the world was not ready to understand… now her work has incredible relevance!
