• Certified Diabetes EducatorMaudene was an instructor at the Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition where she taught graduate nutrition, medical, dental, nursing, and public health students in New York, NY (1975- 2013). She also taught patients at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, New York, NY (2001-2012).
It is her pleasure to be invited to give presentations for 1199 SIEU Institute for Continuing Education, New York City since 1995, at Health Retreats & STEAM Camp for Sister to Sister International, Yonkers, NY, and at the Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association.
Currently, she provides nutrition counseling in the student health service of Columbia University, New York, NY (2015-present), nutrition assessment and education for Hudson Valley Community Services, Mt. Vernon, NY, and consulting with the North Bronx Food Justice Project.Some of her community activities have included workshops at Philly Urban Creators urban farm in Philadelphia, and, here in New York City, “Biking with A Nutritionist” & “Hike the Heights,” volunteer advocacy for the American Diabetes Association.
She received her B.S. in Human Nutrition in from Cornell University and her M.S. in Public Health Nutrition from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Best nutrition advice: Eat mostly foods that grow from roots and watch out for shiny food.
