RSS - Special Events and New Classes in September

September is a BIG month at RSS! It's Senior Center Month, Balance Awareness Week, Intergenerational Month, and National Grandparents Day! Plus, RSS is a host site for Active Aging Week the last week of September.

 - HIICAP, the Health Insurance Information and Counseling Assistance Program provides current and objective information on Medicare. Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage plans, Part D, EPIC, and Medicare Savings.

Active Aging Week begins! 

RSS is a host site for Active Aging Week. The goal of Active Aging week is to Inspire Wellness!  We invite everyone 50+ to come in for a special week of events.  Enjoy a number of great activities to engage your mind, heart and body!  For each day that you participate in Active Aging Week you will receive a raffle ticket making you eligible for some great prizes. The more you attend the more raffle tickets you'll get!  

Monday, September 24
Focus on Wellness
1 - 3 PM     Wellness Fair - Meet your neighborhood partners in wellness. Learn all the ways these businesses and community organizations support all aspects of our health. Participants include Health Outreach/Allen Hospital, TCR, Riverdale Neighborhood House, FDNY, Kingsbridge Library, and many others!
3 PM         Qi Gong/Tai Chi - Come to the wellness fair and join us for Qi Gong/Tai Chi right after

Tuesday, Sept 25
Focus on the Physical and Social
11 AM        Bliss Fit is a combination of yoga, dancing, stretching and Qi Gong. It combines exercise with breathing exercises and a gratitude practice to help enhance your overall well-being. You can do at any fitness level. AND, IT'S FUN!

4-6 PM     Nutrition Workshop - Charles A. McCoy, CNH, known as "Plant Hero" will demonstrate and provide information about the health benefits of/and how to prepare smoothies. Samples and free giveaways. The presentation is free. Dinner will be at 5 PM. If you would like to attend dinner, you must register in advance. $2 dinner fee.
