 including transportation challenges\, confusing medical bills\, inconsiste
 nt care\, and more.\n\nThis presentation examines how these challenges dis
 rupt care and highlights practical tools and strategies. \n\nTopics includ
 e\n- accessing geriatric care\; \n- understanding health insurance changes
 \, \n- Medicaid eligibility\, co-pays\, and medical bills\; \n- strengthen
 ing patient–provider communication and self-advocacy—particularly in the c
 ontext of frequent provider changes\n- addressing transportation barriers 
 that interfere with receiving care.\n\nAlva R. Rodriguez holds a Bachelor’
 s degree in Public Health and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiol
 ogy and Biostatistics from CUNY School of Public Health & Health Policy. S
 he has experience conducting research and community-based work with vulner
 able populations\, including low-income communities and women facing compl
 ex health and social challenges.\n\nAlva has over four years of experience
  as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Mount Sinai\, where she contributed
  to qualitative and mixed-methods research evaluating a doula program serv
 ing vulnerable women and examining social and systemic factors affecting m
 aternal and infant health in Queens\, New York. Her work includes collecti
 ng survey and interview data on maternal and infant health challenges\, ba
 rriers to accessing care and navigating complex health care systems. Throu
 gh her academic and professional experience\, she has conducted extensive 
 literature reviews on health care topics\, including a published literatur
 e-review paper on locus of control and patient–provider communication. Alv
 a is eager to apply her research skills to support older adults at RSS in 
 understanding and navigating the challenges that can limit access to adequ
 ate care.
