One of NYC’s most beloved museums just reopened after a long period of renovation, opening up the former private rooms on the second floor, as well as additional spaces.

Its founder, Henry Clay Frick was one of the most successful, as well as controversial steel magnates of this country, but he was also a most passionate art lover and put together an outstanding art collection at a time when American art institutions were still in their infancy. Guided by art professionals like Roger Fry, he still made exquisite, yet very personal choices and planned early on, to turn his beautiful home on Fifth Avenue into a museum. Paintings, sculpture, furniture and decorative art, from the Middle Ages to Modern time, including wall panels created for Madame de Pompadour, can be viewed in a most intimate setting completed by bouquets of flowers and ticking clocks!
