  reuse art class surrounding the material... paper!  A great activity to t
 ake place in honor of Earth Day (April 22). The class has both a historica
 l perspective and a practical application of collage!\n\nWe will learn abo
 ut collage and its applications through an art historical and hands-on inv
 estigation of influential collage artists Lois Lord\, Kurt Schwitters\, an
 d Mikalane Thomas. \n\nParticipants will then create an artwork using reus
 ed and recycled paper based materials\, inspired by art history\, and part
 icipating in an open-ended material exploration.\n\nThese are the material
 s you'll need for the class:  scissors and a glue stick or tape.\n\nGather
  up any paper materials you have in your home like recycled paper or cardb
 oard\, cereal or pizza boxes\, cardboard\, magazines\, old mail. cards\, p
 hotos\, colored paper or any other paper materials around your house!\n\nM
 aterials for the Arts is New York City’s largest creative reuse center ded
 icated to supporting arts and cultural organizations. A program of the New
  York City Department of Cultural Affairs with support from the Department
  of Education and Friends of Materials for the Arts\, in 2018\, MFTA colle
 cted 1.7 million pounds of reusable materials from businesses and individu
 als across the five boroughs. These items were made available\, free of ch
 arge\, to nonprofits with arts programming as well as New York City public
  schools and City agencies.\n
